    Multistep Organic Syntheses

  • Chemical equipment and glassware to perform chemical reaction scales from 1mg to 100g.
  • Solid phase syntheses.
  • Temperature controlled reactions from -78oC to 200oC.
  • High pressure Parr reactions to 5g,  distillation, evaporation, and lyophilizations to 5L, sublimations to 1g.
  • Photolysis reactions up to 3L.

    Purifications

  • Flash chromatography (silica gel, alumina, reverse phase).
  • Size exclusion and ion exchange chromatography.
  • Dialysis and gel filtrations.
  • Prep HPLC (normal / reverse phase, ion exchange, size exclusion).

    Analyses

  • TLC
  • DNA enzymatic digests.
  • HPLC with PDA detection.
  • UV-Vis Spectroscopy.
  • Karl Fischer Titrations.
  • Optical Polarimetery.
  • Melting points.
  • NMR (in conjunction with the Sealy Center for Structural Biology, or Dr. Scott Gilbertson’s NMR lab at UTMB).
